Self-interview
I've been tagged by Jacki Hollywood Brown at Adventures in Organizing to interview myself about my blog. Here you go!
What is the story behind the name of your blog?
I wanted to call it something a little silly. So I decided to go with a Yiddish-style prefix, fitting with my sort-of-Jewish background:
schm- (or shm-)
[fr. various Yiddish words]
colloq., chiefly U.S.
an element used to form a nonsense term of derision by
preceding the initial vowel or by replacing the initial
consonant or consonant cluster (forming a rhyme) ~ "fancy, shmancy"
Just ignore that part about "derision." I'm just trying not to take myself too seriously.
Why did you start blogging in the first place?
It was a way for me to connect with people about public speaking in a way that's less formal and more personal than a website. I've been an educator for almost 20 years now, and it's in my nature to keep trying to find ways to educate.
What is your best blogging experience?
My best blogging experience would have to be the overall great experience of meeting so many like-minded people! My readers are fabulous! Some have become friends, some have become clients, and I just enjoy getting to know them.
I've also connected with other bloggers and I'm enjoying being a part of that community as well.
Your worst?
I haven't had a bad blogging experience. I mean, every now and then someone disagrees with me and bursts my little Utopian bubble for a moment, but I can't say anything has happened that I would consider "bad."
What do you think will happen to your blog in 2008?
My readership and subscriber list will continue to grow - I'd love to hit 1,000 subscribers this year. I will keep posting 5 or 6 days a week as long as I can continue coming up with relevant and applicable content and my brain doesn't explode.
ETA: Oops, I forgot to tag some people. If you've got a blog, consider yourself tagged! Post your own self-interview and let me know when it's up!
